There are certain essentials that must be maintained if you are going to look for eye care for babies. New born babies require great eye care that should keep their eyes healthy and gentle. They have to be cleaned exclusively well with soft clothes and cotton balls. They can be removed with plain water as well. You have to clear your baby’s eyes regularly so as to keep it free of bacteria formation and other problems. If they have their eyes closed gently clean your new born baby’s outer eyelid with some fresh warm water from the outside corners. Use a separate part of the cloth to clean each eye.

Blocked tear ducts may be the problem for some babies. When a blocked tear duct is there then the eyes and rolling should be made from the cheeks. However they should be evaluated through a pediatrician.

But the good news is that this problem gets cured with time. Usually during the first year of the baby this problem gets cleared.

Childhood conjunctivitis may be another problem with certain new born babies. They may develop the pink eye or even get inflammation of the eye through this. The membrane of the eyes cover the lines of the inside eye and also create another thin membrane that covers the actual eye. This is how conjunctivitis is created. The lines of the inside of the eye also make for different levels of conjunctivitis in a baby.

The different levels of conjunctivitis are:

• Staphylococcus aureus
• Haemophilus influenza
• Streptococcus pneumoniae
• Neisseria gonorrhea
• Chlamydia trachomatis

These are caused by different viruses like the adenovirus and the herpes virus. However for a new born a conjunctivitis or a virus infection can be a big deal. It can also be caused by chemicals through the environment or any other product. Chemicals from our surroundings make us vulnerable to eye infections and especially so for newborns.

Allergies can also trigger conjunctivitis while there are different types of conjunctivitis which may be understandable through their type of origin. Treatment and care for allergy type conjunctivitis and that of a chemical kind is always different. When new born conjunctivitis is treated through the right path there is less hassle and they are also cured easily.

The treatment option for chemical conjunctivitis for new born babies include an irritation that can be treated through dropping eye drops as well as giving anti bacterial clean ups. Further spread of bacterial infection must be prevented through this process. It should also be noted that all medicines for new born must be thoroughly checked through a pediatrician. There have been many instances where a new born has reacted to an anti-bacterial drop! Often an anti-bacterial eye cleanser can even lead to further conjunctivitis. So whatever should be taken must be given slowly to check for reactions.

Usually conjunctivitis in new born babies starts with mildly red inflammation showing up in the eye area. When drops of the right kind are placed in the eye the red inflammations get cured within 24 to 36 hours. These mild types of conjunctivitis can thus be easily cured with little medications.
